The Eagle's Nest Cabin is a handcrafted log cabin built by Art Carlson before the days of chainsaws. In 2002, Eddie Lundstrom restored this cabin. It was taken apart log by log and moved to the top of an outcropping of granite. Then it was restored with new windows, a three piece bath and a deck. We are very proud of this cabin.

Our Three Traditional Cabins

Each cabin was carefully built of logs by Arthur Carlson from local trees. He was a master craftsman with a passion for the bush. Today each cabin is a clean and cozy retreat from the noisy, modern world. Each has a peaceful view, a wood heater and propane lights - the simple luxuries of life. Linen and towels are provided. Guests go back in time again when they visit the outhouse. Each cabin has its own, and they do fit into this simpler more relaxed way of life. There is a central shower and bath with plenty of hot water. Here on an island in a wilderness park this seems the best solution.

The Surveyors Cabin (sometimes called the 3 room cabin)

This cabin has long been a favourite spot for guests. Mike Martin and his group book this cabin year after year. It has the best view of the lake. In the evenings, Mike sets his flashing light in the window to guide him home after dark. This cabin has 2 bedrooms and a central sitting area.

The Logger's Cabin

This log cabin was built by Art using techniques learned in Sweden and then in the bush of Northwestern Ontario. He had no chainsaw or crane so you wonder how he and his wife Florence managed. It is a comfortable cabin for 4 people.

The Trappers Cabin

This cosy log cabin is the newest of the cabins built by Arthur. It is a favourite for some of our guests. George Thomas and Don Albert always liked to sit at the window and survey the island after a day of fishing.
