At Viking Island, you will experience our great Canadian home cooking which can be traced to the varied cultures of this area. Recipes originate from the Oji-Cree, Swedish, French Canadian, Polish and Canadian people of this area. Ingredients include wild rice, blueberries and, sometimes, your own fish. Over a hearty breakfast, guests discuss and plan the day's adventure. Lunch can be a bowl of soup at the lodge, a picnic on the shoreline, or fresh walleye cooked over a fire; your choice. Supper is an event. It is served buffet style with plenty of seconds available.

The menu is set up as a Sunday night family supper every night. A sample menu for the evening meal would go like this:
Sunday: Prime Rib with horse radish, roasted potatoes, peas and carrots, fresh whole wheat bread and Ceasar salad. For dessert, Canadian Butter tarts
Monday: Barbequed Ribs with rice, broccolli, fresh white rolls, veggies and dip. For dessert, fruit salad and brownies.
Tuesday: Crispy chicken with wild rice, green beans, fresh bannick and mandarin salad. For dessert, blueberry pie.
