Book Viking Island for a family group
Over time we have hosted:

Family Groups like:

  • A family celebrating the life of a grandfather who loved to fish
  • A family group of older siblings with their families
  • A kids sports team with parents
  • A reunion

Corporate Groups like:

  • A company looking for a relaxed location for brainstorming
  • A US company hosting partners from Japan
  • A company bringing together teams from across the country
  • Committee members looking for common ground

A Family Group

A family group usually gets involved in the whole running of the camp. Although the kitchen is run by Donna, an excellent cook, guests are welcome in the kitchen to cook on the wood cook stove, learn traditional Canadian dishes, bake their own desserts or introduce their own favorite dishes. Eddie, the camp manager, is available to teach the young people how to maintain and run an outboard motor or how to fillet their own fish. There are adventures to suit many tastes. One group can canoe up the creek to Onnie Lake while another group goes to Peterson Lake for a day of lake trout fishing. The old guys can stay on Douglas and fish for walleyes for a shorelunch. Groups of 4 can take an overnight trip to Embryo Lake. Workshops can be arranged to make diamond willow walking sticks, learn, outdoor photography or native beading.

A Corporate Group

It is easy to fly to Red Lake from anywhere. There are several daily flights from Winnipeg to Red Lake. (call Red Lake Travel for details call 1-800-465-3305). Different flights and schedules can easily be accommodated with our air service. A corporate group usually spends time networking with people they don’t often see face to face. A quiet day of fishing is a proven way to get to know someone. Sometimes, committee members can find common ground or new ways of looking at issues. Some companies bring valuable clients. At camp you have a captive audience and fishing is a powerful lobbying tool. The lodge can be set up for presentations or workshops. Each group is different and we work hard to tailor the trip to suit your group. Fishing equipment, life jackets and raincoats can be provided.
