How to get to Viking Island
Air Transportation from Red Lake to the Island is provided by float planes.

Housekeeping at Viking Island.
If you have visited us in previous years, you will remember that we cooked three meals a day. Starting in 2013, our cabins are equipped with complete kitchens including barbeques and fish fryers on the deck. You are able to cook all your meals in your cabin. The Lodge will be open all day with the coffee pot on with cell phone service and wifi available.
We provide stock grocery items in the cabins. (Please ask for our stock list and grocery order.) Beverages are available for purchase. You may bring your own fresh groceries (meat, dairy and produce) or fill out our grocery order and it will be waiting at the base to fly out with you or may be at camp ahead of you. We still provide bedding, pillows and towels once a week, and your cabin is tidy up daily.
The screened-in fish cleaning building has running water and is ready for your use, or relax after a day of fishing and let us clean the fish for you.
There is staff at the island to help you and give fishing advice. The portages and boats are ready for you.
We ask that you buy your beverages from our supply at Viking Island because showing up at the air base with several cases of beer, soda and water puts you over your weight limit (100 pounds per person) and that creates a problem with weight on the airplanes. The airplanes have a busy schedule and extra flights are hard to fit in.
* In 2016 Viking Island updated the catch and release program. Our goal is to sustain the high-quality fishing on all the lake in our care. Now when you catch "the big one" we ask you to take a photo and throw the fish back. These larger fish are our breeding stock providing you and the future generations of excellent fishing*
